Steve Kaminski was introduced to Art Center School (currently, Art Center College of Design) by his high school art teacher. After graduation from John Burroughs High School in Burbank, CA., a full scholarship to Art Center allowed him to graduate before his 21st birthday. He graduated with a Bachelor of Professional Arts degree in Transportation Design, major—Product Design, minor.
He started his career at Chrysler Corp. as an automotive designer. After four years with Chrysler & American Motors, he joined a product design office in Detroit. (Lawrence Wilson & Assoc.)
After 10 yrs. in the Detroit area, he returned to California, (where he was originally raised). He has lived and freelanced in the Southern California area since then. After years of freelance design, he connected with Designworks, in Agoura Hills, CA. During those years, Designworks became a wholly owned subsidiary of BMW. He recently retired (after 23 yrs. with Designworks) from BMW Group, Designworks/USA.
He now has time to concentrate on fine art paintings. New to oils, he has been working on portrait and figurative art, which he finds a welcome challenge.
